Caledonia Mining Corporation, through its subsidiaries, engages in the exploration and production of precious metals primarily in South Africa. As of December 31, 2005, it had 100% interest in Barbrook gold mine located near the town of Barberton in the Mpumalanga province of the Republic of South Africa; and 100% interest in Eersteling gold mine located 36 kilometers from the town of Polokwane in the rolling terrain of the Northern Province of the Republic of South Africa. As of the above date, the company had a gold resource estimate of 597,500 tonnes in the Eersteling Mine property and 1,749,000 tonnes of gold resource in Barbrook gold mine. It also has proven and probable reserves of 308,000 tonnes in Barbrook gold mine. In addition, the company owns interests in Rooipoort Platinum Prospect located southwest of the Eersteling Gold Mine; holds five exploration licenses in northern Zambia, which host cobalt/copper mineralization; and Kadola property consisting of three license areas for the mineralization of copper and cobalt. The company was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Mississauga, Canada.
