It operates the Oena mine and Avontuur mine in Namaqualand, which produce alluvial diamonds; and a portfolio of exploration projects in diamond producing areas in Namaqualand and Botswana. The Oena mine is located on the lower Orange river covering approximately 8,800 hectares. The Avontuur mine covers approximately 2,600 acres and is located near the coastal town of Hondeklip Bay in Namaqualand. The company's exploration projects include Mopipi and Orapa, Botswana; Groen River Valley, Namaqualand, South Africa; and Jwaneng, Botswana. The Mopipi project covers an area of approximately 3,600 square kilometers and the Orapa project covers approximately 1,300 square kilometers. The company's exploration activities at Mopipi include aerial photography and satellite imagery interpretation; acquisition and interpretation of aeromagnetic, electromagnetic, and gravity data; and extensive soil sampling. The Groen River Valley exploration project covers an area of approximately 500 square kilometers of the lower reaches of the Groen River in the Namaqualand region of the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. The Jwaneng project covers an area of approximately 3,700 square kilometers located at a distance of between 25 and 75 kilometers from the Jwaneng Mine. Firestone Diamonds is based in London.
