International Barytex Resources, Ltd. engages in the acquisition and exploration of mineral properties. It explores primarily for base metals in Congo. The company has interests in the Mel zinc-lead-barite property and the Barb zinc-lead-silver property located in southeast Yukon. It also has an option to acquire a 75% interest in the Shituru copper-cobalt deposit in Congo. In addition, the company has an option to acquire 75% interest in Dulong tin-zinc property in Yunnan Province, China. International Barytex was incorporated in 1965 under the name Empire Mercury Corporation, Ltd. (N.P.L) and changed its name to Empire Metals Corporation, Ltd. (N.P.L.) in 1970. Further, it changed its name to Sovereign Metals Corporation, Ltd. (N.P.L.) in 1976 and to Barytex Resources Corp. in 1986. Subsequently, the company changed its name to International Barytex Resources, Ltd. in 1992. International Barytex is based in Vancouver, Canada.
